Blogger Assignment #1

I decided to become a teacher because I have always had a passion for teaching young children new things. As stated in the video and in our textbook, our children are the future. I have enjoyed being creative and innovative with new ideas that can spark all learners interest.
The worst teacher I ever had was in high school teaching Social Studies. His method of teaching was very dull and boring. I learned NOTHING in his class and had to suffer a year of that! Learning should be fun and exciting. I enjoy doing hands-on activities in my classroom because children can gain a lot of knowledge from that.
The best teacher I ever had was my geometry teacher in high school. Geometry was a tough subject for me but have this teacher made me enjoy math even more. She was always excited and creative with her methods of teaching. I was more alert and able to understand certain math concepts better. There was always an opportunity for us to learn new things. She was my inspiration for becoming a teacher.

  1. Hey Audretta,
I see that you are in a classroom now. What age children do you work with? I am in a classroom too, I work with infants. I love working with them, however sometimes I miss doing the hands on activities such as, science, math, art, all that kind of stuff. I am going to school for my B-K. My favorite age to work with are 4 year olds.

It makes all the difference when your teachers are exciting and have fun hands on activities. I have had a couple in my time. But I think even more than fun engaging teachers I have had the boring teachers who tend to be stale. Like they just do the same old routine over and over.

  2. Hi Cassie,
I work wit 6 and 7 year olds teaching first grade. I have been teaching for 8 years and enjoy it very much. I hat goes off to you working with infants! I also do love doing alot of hands-on activities with the children. I am still a kid at heart myself in the classroom.

  3. It's wonderful that you enjoy teaching first grade! I taught first and second together one year and K4, K5, and first another year and I loved it. I think first and second are the best grades EVER!

  4. I think so too! I would prefer to teach in the primary grades if I had my way. I enjoy do all the fun stuff that the children are doing in class. My favorite thing to do is read to them. I am also buying books from scholastic books clubs and continue to build my classroom library.
