Video and Philosophy of Education

I truly enjoyed the video and agreed with Dr. William Ayers was stating. As a teacher, each day is trial and error. Children need to know what my expectations are of the classroom and of themselves. The teachers classroom rules and expectations need to forced the moment they want into the class. A classroom also should be structured and consistent at all times. Students should also be given ample time to learn and grow new things on a daily basis.
My philosophy of being a teacher is to provide a safe, nurturing, and caring environment for all students. I want all of my students to be successful with their academic work. As I continue to teach, I change certain things because I get a new group of children each year. What may have worked one year with one group may not work with the next group of children that I will get the following year. I am always taking workshops and reading current news articles to see what is going on in our classrooms and get new ideas for my own classroom.
Your heart has to be in the right place in one decides to go into the teaching profession. You will have to take the good with the bad, like any job and hang in there. Teaching is very rewarding career for me. I look forward to teaching my students each day and having fun with my lessons.

  1. I feel that this blog touched me because you said that you have to take the good with the bad as far as teaching just like any job. I like that you said that just because you are the first person that has said that teaching has some bad things just like any other job. It is a very rewarding job if you like what you are doing. Some teachers would love to have a different job and I feel that they should get out of teaching immediately because it is not fair to the students as well as him/her self.
